Application

Thank you for your interest in the O Ambassadors program!

Completing this form indicates you want to join the program by forming an O Ambassadors Club at your school starting September 2008. You will be submitting the application on behalf of yourself, your school’s club and your school. Please note that this application is for the 2008-2009 school year. Clubs accepted for the 2008-2009 school year will start the program in the fall of 2008.

Read our Frequently Asked Questions before completing your application to learn more about the O Ambassadors program, including what O Ambassadors Clubs do and what leading an O Ambassadors Club entails.

Who can apply

Educators at elementary, middle or high schools in the United States or Canada are invited to apply to the program. U.S. schools must be described in Section 501c(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and Canadian schools must be designated as non-profit educational institutions by the Canadian Revenue Agency. Only one application per school and per educator will be accepted. The educator applying for the program must be employed by the school and must be directly involved in running the club for the entire school year as he/she will be committing to the program terms specified in the agreement.

If you are unsure of your eligibility for the program, please contact us at oambassadors@freethechildren.com.

If you are not located in the United States or Canada, there are other ways to be a part of the O Ambassadors program.

Obligations

If you and your school are accepted to the O Ambassadors program, there are certain requirements that you and your school’s club must fulfill. The most important is your commitment to lead and mentor a club for at least one school year and to meet a necessary level of participation throughout the year.

If accepted into the program, you will be asked to sign an agreement on behalf of you, your club and your school. Please review the educator agreement before you begin.

Completing the application

The application requires information about yourself and your school. Only completed applications will be considered. Your detailed responses will help us assess the compatibility of your school with the O Ambassadors program.

Set aside approximately 25 minutes to complete the application. You are not able to save and return to your application after starting. Before you begin, gather the following information:

  • Contact information for your school and principal
  • Number of students who are registered at your school
  • The district in which your school is registered (public schools)
  • Your school’s NCES School ID (U.S. schools)
  • The nature of student involvement in your school (for example, number of different clubs or extracurricular activities)

Because the O Ambassadors program strives to reach a diverse population of students, the following information is being requested, but providing it is optional, to ensure the program is inclusive:

  • The percentage of students who receive subsidized lunches at your school (if applicable)
  • The percentage of students in each ethnic/racial group at your school

Verification process

Your application will be reviewed by members of the O Ambassadors team, who will notify you if your application is accepted.

By submitting this information, you agree to allow the O Ambassadors team to contact the principal of your school to verify the information you provide, and to take steps to verify the information in your application. Please take a moment to discuss your application with your principal so they are informed of your interest to participate in the program.

The O Ambassadors program will not be able to accept all applications as the anticipated volume is likely to far exceed what we will be able to accommodate.

Please see the privacy policy for information on how we use submitted data.
